1. Introduction
Everything happens in its own time. Oh that everything would happen in my own time then all would be great! Do you know anyone who thinks that thought? Anyone come to mind who lives in a hurry?
2. Philosophy
In our lifetime time and space have come together in such a compact way that life seems to move at an ever increasing pace that gets harder and harder to keep up. I recently flew from Las Vegas, Nevada to the Washington, D.C. area in about 3 hours. No super sonic transport, just non-stop! We have come to expect instant gratification and immediate service. More importantly we want our lives to be better and we want to be happier and healthier. And we want it NOW!
I used to be a network marketer. I would get emails from some people, affectionately known as network marketing junkies, every single week offering me a new opportunity! They were skipping from company to company weekly because they were always looking for that magic answer to solve all their unhappiness. Do you know the average person today, over the course of their career years, holds at least different five jobs in five unrelated fields? Most likely none of those areas being the one in which their college degree was earned.
3. Lesson
The Universe, God, Spirit (whatever term feels comfortable to you) has a Divine plan for all of us and for everything in existence. I am not saying there is no free will. We are always free to choose to act or not act in ways we dream up or learn from others. What I am talking about is the big picture into which we all fit. Everything that happens in our world happens at exactly the right time for us. We may not agree about the timing. We may get mighty restless, disappointed and even give up on our dreamsall because our timing differed from the timing of the Universe.
I lived my life trying to be in control of my life. You read Getting Unstuck. What does that word try mean? Of course. Try means, Yeah right. No way is that going to happen. No wonder I never succeeded! The harder I tried to control what happened for me the more out of control my world became. I was frantic, frenetically trying to do too many things all the time. I was perpetually exhausted.
Ah! Then I stepped back and saw how I was thinking about life and the world. I stopped trying to control my life. Guess what happened. My life flowed so smoothly, so calmly and so swiftly I almost didnt believe I was awake! While I didnt exactly slow down I definitely did calm down. Now I get more done. Now I feel more at peace.
I realize that the things I want in my life are coming, They are coming at a apce other than I had expected. I am fine with waiting.
4. Choice
Here is the thing about our lifeit is our life as we choose to live it. We choose our thoughts that lead to certain emotions that lead to actions that cause results that lead once again to our thoughts. Our life is such a cycle. And we get to choose the thoughts running the cycle the way we choose the cycle on the washer or dryer! Oh my gosh! Our life can be that simple! Live consciously making choices. Know how our day goes, how our week goes, how our relationships and work gothey all go according to our cycle. And our thoughts create how our cycle works.
5. Words
The words that echo through our heads run us. So many of us run negative words rather than positive words. Why would anyone consciously choose to be negative? Ah ha! I doubt that anyone consciously chooses to be negative. There is definitely a place and time to be the devils advocate and look at all sides of an action or experience. I am about negativity just for the purpose of being a pessimist. I am talking about how we think about an eventreal or imagined. We can notice the words running through our busy mind. We can simply turn off the chatter that leaves us feeling tired, depressed or angry. We can pay attention to the voices telling us how terrific this adventure we call life truly is.
Am I saying life is one never-ending smile? Well, sort of. I am saying life can be that way when we choose to make it sono matter what is going on in our world. There are at least two ways to look at every event: one way forwards our life: the other way drags us down. Let us listen to the words that leave us feeling great.
